10th Annual Career Day

Friday, April 2001
This school teaches students from Kindergarten through 6th Grade.  Each year they hold a Career Day and have various speakers and presenters from all different backgrounds and career types.

Some of these careers included are listed below

Kathy Roberts, Lifetime Drugfree World Champion Powerlifter, 
spoke to five classes in two sessions for the day.  

She spoke to Ms. Nevil and Ms. N. Smith's 1st Grade Class and Ms. Suzensky and Ms. Chevalley's Kindergarten Classes. During the 1st Session, one other 1st Grade Class was in attendance.

Today was a great day. I provided 7 lecture sessions, with 10 classes attending throughout the day containing students from 1st through 5th grade.  I talked to the students about the dangers of steroids, other drugs, and alcohol. I gave them specific examples of why they should stay away from drugs, alcohol, and smoking. I spoke about the importance of having an education and how setting goals can help to succeed.  I shared my keys to success with the students --  focus, discipline, hard work, dedication and surrounding themselves with positive people.

The day went great. I had fun with the students and they all left with a smile on their face and hopefully a message to remember and take with them as they grow and advance through their lives.
